Fitness and Yoga
We have a couple of things which members may wish to try:
· Introduction to Yoga – Audio description. This is a series of audio recordings from Jackie, one of our yoga instructors. It is an introduction to the basics of yoga. The first session is on breathing, posture, and finding your core. Activities are done in a chair.
· Fitness workouts – Brian, our fitness instructor from Nanaimo, has developed a list of activities that members can try. Members who have done Brian’s in person classes have found this very familiar. Others are welcome to try also.
Any member wishing to try these activities can contact Susan for more information. If you are not a member but would be interested, please also contact Susan.
If there is something else you would like to try out – or something you are doing and thing that others would enjoy trying or hearing about, please let us know. Susan can be reached at susan@bcblindsports.bc.ca
Take care, stay healthy, active and safe; and let us know how you are doing.

Programing and Contact Information During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic
April 8, 2020
A Message from: Jane D. Blaine, Executive Director
Subject: Programing and Contact Information During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic
Dear Members, Participants, Supporters, and Partners:
All of us at BC Blind Sports and Recreation Association hope that you are staying well and healthy, practicing physical distancing, and following all of the guidelines and regulations set by the provincial and national health authorities. We are open in a remote way while our Joyce Street office is closed – so we are still here to support you in being physically active.
Programming
At this time all of our regular programming has been suspended due to the stay at home orders. We are taking measures to implement some online programs to help our members and other British Columbians who are blind, visually impaired, or deaf blind, keep active at home. Staff are currently working remotely to keep communication open, and develop alternative online services where possible.
BC Blind Sports will be providing some ideas of activities that can be done around your home, which will support you in building your physical literacy and movement skills. Check our website to find out what you can do to continue developing your physical skills. We will include information on:
- activities for you to try
- how to adapt equipment that will be useful and affordable
We also hope that you will share your ideas with us, and we will review them. We will have new updates on our website every Monday. The first posting is up already at www.bcblindsports.bc.ca
Please also check with us if you have specific questions or want additional information – we are here to help you remain active as best as you can.
