2. MEMBERSHIPS AND WAIVERSThank you to everyone who has renewed their membership. As per our bylaw change in December 2023, BC Blind Sports and Recreation Association now has only one category of member, and therefore one membership fee ($15). As our programs and services are for people who are blind, partially sighted, or deafblind; including those who may have additional exceptionalities; for programming purposes we are still asking you to identify if you are blind, partially sighted, deafblind or sighted.
For insurance purposes members are also now required to complete a Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, and Assumption of Risks. This is standard now for sport organizations. If you have any questions about this form, please contact a BC Blind Sports staff person.
We are currently working to refresh the membership form on our website, to include the waiver. 3. 2024 PARIS PARALYMPIC GAMESWomen’s National Goalball Team Congratulations to the six women on Canada’s Goalball Team. “A concussion is a brain injury that can’t be seen on routine X-rays, CT scans or MRIs. It affects the way a person may think and remember things and can cause a variety of symptoms. Any blow to the head, face or neck, or a blow to the body that jars your head, could cause a concussion.” (from Parachute Canada 2022 10).
Resources on Concussion can be found at the following links:
- Canadian Blind Sports Concussion and Vision Impairment Resources
- Coaching Association of Canada’s free NCCCP Making Head Way Concussion eLearning Series.

If you would like more information about concussions, please contact the office and we will be happy to assist you. If you have any difficulty accessing any of these resources or links, please let us know.
7. SUPPORTERS
We thank the following for their support: the Province of BC, Province of BC Gaming Grants, ViaSport BC, Government of Canada, (CGMA) Planet Bingo, Sport BC, private donors, foundations, and sponsors.
We most sincerely thank the Victor and Anna Kern Foundation for their continued and ongoing support of our Early Intervention Program over the last number of years. In the 2023-24 fiscal year we were very pleased to again receive funding from the Moffat Family Fund through the Winnipeg Foundation, this time for multi sport experiences for children and youth.
We also take this opportunity to once again thank Oddball Workshop for their continued support of our Dragon Boat teams. Oddball Workshop is helping to build up the dragon boat community by investing directly into the success of dragon boat teams that support our community. Through the Oddball Dragon Boat BC Grant Program our teams have been able to participate in at least two to three extra festivals this summer.
