Karate is a Japanese Martial Art that focuses on development of defensive and counterattacking movements. It is unarmed combat using the hands and feet. A coloured belt is used as in other martial arts, to indicate the level of skill an individual has. There are some athletes who are blind or partially sighted who participate at different levels in Karate. There are no modified rules for athletes who are blind.
