Historical Information on Run for Light
Run for Light was a very successful fun run held annually for over 30 years. Its focus was on participation, promotion and awareness of blind sport and recreation, and as a fundraiser.
In 2013, the Board of Directors decided that due to the increasing cost, staff and volunteer time commitment, the fluctuation in revenue from the run due to weather dependence and the number of other recreational opportunities available in Vancouver, that the Run for Light would not be held. It was important to put our resources into physical activity programs for British Columbians who are blind or visually impaired. It was an emotional decision as it had been a mainstay of Blind Sports and a highlight of the year. “BC Blind Sports thanks our supporters, volunteers, staff, donors, participants and the community who have contributed to the Run over the past 33 years.”
